This journey, before, through, and after life, has a way of deceiving a person into thinking that something else is needed before a deep sense of enjoyment can be found.
This is a total lie. A very simple realization awaits discovery just under the opaque surface of the mind. It is so simple that if you blink, you might just miss it.
Does it seem strange to you that people will side with various teams in various sports, and then act as if life depends upon the team doing well? What about your own team?
Wandering around last night, I had the sudden, and repeated realization that my life requires nothing in order for me to love it. Of course, I eat food, drink water, and associate with friends and other individuals, but no particular set of circumstances can ever “save me” or make my life any worse or better than it always is. Of course, the sensations, the abilities, the experiences will change, as they always do.
As the wise prophet sayeth:
“Every hand’s a winner, and every hand’s a loser, and the best you can hope for is to die in your sleep.”
Here’s the deal. I have my preferences, and so do you. What do these preferences consist of, besides likes and dislikes? Not much of anything.
What happens when a person decides to love life itself? What if a person decides to love existence, including life, death, and everything between?
That person might find themselves having to play a constant game of make-believe while in public, or associating with others. Why? Because nearly every friendship hinges on both individuals agreeing on a whole bunch of similar likes and dislikes. Don’t buy this? What happens when an anarchist suddenly decides to get a corporate job or run for office? Most of that anarchist’s friends will fade out of his or her life.
I have established a small handful of friendships based on mutual love for life and existence itself, and these friendships are NEVER in danger of fading, dissipating, or otherwise “breaking up.” (Funny, those words, breaking up, how much do they influence how we act when making changes in our relationships? Is this really necessary? More on that in a future post.)
These friendships I value immensely. You can find links to a couple of these people over on the sidebars of this blog.
What does it do to your mind to accept the following:
I am a fan of life.
I love Bush for his comical public appearances,
I love Bin Laden for his long beard,
I love Jerry Falwell for his ability to motivate huge masses of people with strong emotions,
I love Christopher Hitchens for his attacks on the delusions of religion,
I love life and everything in it so much that I refuse to take sides.
I say YES to life, experience, and anything that comes my way.
What would happen if I stuck with this awareness all the time? Never getting drawn into arguments, instead, seeking always the beauty and amusement in everything, no matter how taboo it may seem to never take sides.
Try it yourself. That is my False Self Suicide of the day today, to remember, as much as possible, to find the beauty and vibrant life in everything that befalls my awareness. I love shit, and I love food, I love hate and I love love, I love beauty for being so beautiful and I love ugliness for moving parts of me that are left unmoved by beauty…
You may find some seeming contradictions and side-taking in this blog. Don’t worry about that. These entries are simply tools for expressing myself, waking myself up, waking you up, inspiring you, and for playing around with words, concepts, and meanings, until the realization dawns on me, and on anyone else who sits by this river….
Your existence itself is deep proof of your love for life. Stop being a hater (even though I love the haters too!), and enjoy everything, while there’s still time.
If not, I promise to love and enjoy your choice anyway. Either way. All ways, always.
Say Yes to Life!
