Remoting A Bardo Safari…Check It Out
At 10:00am today, I did my first Remote Bardo Safari. Instead of trying to explain it to you, I will send you to the site. Click on the words “Remote Bardo Safari” and you can read all about it for yourself.
My Oxford American Dictionary defines bardo as:
bardo |?bär?d?|
noun
(in Tibetan Buddhism) a state of existence between death and rebirth, varying in length according to a person’s conduct in life and manner of, or age at, death.
• an indeterminate, transitional state : wandering adrift in a bardo of intense negativity, blame, disappointment, criticism, and denial.
ORIGIN Tibetan bár-do, from bar ‘interval’ + do ‘two.’
Have you ever seen the movie Waking Life?

Wandering in the bardos can be similar to the experiences the main character has in the film. Something about the bardo state….well, I am at a loss for words.
I will be doing a lot more of these in the near future. If any of you reading this want to participate at the same time, drop me a line here in the comments form, or send me an email at the address on the “About Me/ How Am I Not Myself?” page by clicking on the linked text in this sentence.
Today at 10, I had planned to walk to the local coffee shop and the library. Instead, I found myself cleaning up my room and desk, doing laundry, washing dishes, and talking on the phone for over 45 minutes to a total stranger about Radical Undoing, Hitchhiking, Wandering, Schizophrenics, Tweakers, artwork, and more.
The false little me that tried to follow an established pattern and to dominate the flow of the safari was somehow prevented from doing so. Instead, I accomplished a bunch of things I hadn’t paid attention to for awhile. Not only that, but while doing those things, I had a deep awareness and attention that I find otherwise more difficult to bring to some of those activities.
I never did make it out of the house during the time of the safari. How interesting, and how strange.
More on all of this later.
For now, time for some rest.
Wish me well. These lungs of mine could use some assistance this fine evening.
Thanks.
Love, Wildness, chaos, joy…..
