With the heavy focus on computer screens, TVs, and blocked up landscapes, the eyes never get a rest and recharge. With this technique, JMKom has managed to heal his eyes more and more…but I’ll let him tell you all about it.

Yes, you have in front of you one of the most important How-To’s of your existence. This practice may or may not help you with the opposite sex, get better grades, find yourself, heal your eyes. Practicing Eye-Sunning in public will definitely get you some funny looks (but you won’t see them)!

Now that you know the technique, I want to let you know that I have direct personal evidence of this practice’s efficacy. [Skip to the bottom for the direct evidence]. First, the story:

At around 12 calendar years of age, a doctor told me I would slowly go blind for the rest of my life. Hard news for a tween! I accepted this fate and the prescription of contact lenses. The rationale for contact lenses included them preventing the deterioration of my eyesight by, get this, holding my eyes in place! I have since learned this to be yet another fallacy of Western optometry.

Contacts, in fact, worsen eyesight by forcing each eye to compensate for the contact’s inaccuracy. If you wear contacts, ask your optometrist if your prescription perfectly matches your eyeglass prescription and almost every time they will answer no. Contact prescriptions move in much larger increments of measure than eyeglasses in order to ease the standardization process. Your doctor approximated the closest contact power to approximately correct your poor vision.

A great yoga book came along to teach me this eye-sunning technique and I have yet to come across it again. I sometimes wonder whether it existed at all. Never-the-less, I have practiced this technique for the last 7 years of my life. For the last 3 I have practiced it with increasing regularity (from 1 – 5 times per day).

2 years ago I visited my optometrist to update my eyeglasses prescription and he informed me that my vision had, surprisingly, improved in one eye. I informed him of my practices and he explained that most bad vision comes from over straining the eyes (ie attempting to focus them too hard). What I had probably done, according to him, involved training my eyes to relax those over-focusing muscles (as well as giving them massive doses of vitamins from the sun) and allowing them to focus naturally. The next year’s visit showed an improvement in the other eye’s vision.

I now wear glasses (and occassionally contacts) with a weaker prescription than before and I hope for the continued improvement of my vision. To accomplish this, I include eye-sunning in my daily practices as well as operating without corrective vision whenever possible. I frequently close my eyes whenever they have no use in whatever activity I engage in at the time. If my eyes feel tired, I relax.

    Ik geloof mijn ogen niet. Jouw verhaal is ongelofelijk. Jij ziet beter dan voorheen dankzij jouw volharding. Ik heb momenteel deze zorg niet… Nochtans heb je gelijk, wij brengen ongeveer 10 uur per dag door voor een scherm. Deze zijn schadelijk voor ons zicht op lange termijn. Wellicht maken jouw oefeningen het mogelijk om deze verslechtering te voorkomen. Bedankt, het was heel boeiend !
