Greetings all and everyone!
A few weeks ago, I went to Grass Valley, CA, to visit the Institute for the Development of the Harmonious Human Being, (IDHHB). While there, Lee and Glenn Perry of the Samadhi Tank Company made available their tank for my use. I was very excited to try it, and what you will find below the pictures is my testimonial that was written just after getting out of the tank. I have also included the song I mentioned in the testimonial. It might be helpful and enjoyable to:
1. Listen to the song:
2. Read the description below, and investigate the links to your heart’s content.
3. Listen to the song again and attempt to experience your body as water, and imagine the air around you as a vast ocean in which every movement reverberates outward into, beyond, and through all and everything.
Also available is a book edited by E.J. Gold and John Lilly, Tanks For The Memories

Here is my original written reaction to my time in the tank:
My time in the tank 3/19/2009 ~ 8:30 – 9:30 AM
Today in Grass Valley, CA, I had my 1st hour in a samadhi floatation tank. The opportunity arose during a visit with E.J. Gold and the IDHHB. I had heard much about floatation tanks and seen the film “Altered States,” but I did not know what to expect. The first noticeable fact after climbing into the tank and closing the door was an immediate absence of worry and overconcern. Nothing about my life seemed to matter much at all, and it didn’t matter that it didn’t matter. I felt free to simply be there.
Being surrounded by an ocean of air sometimes creates the illusion of separateness between myself and all and everything else that exists. In the tank, that illusion gently disappeared. A couple times my leg twitched, and the energy reverberated through the water and moved my whole body. This helped my body to understand how intimate and energetic its connection to all things really is.
Time seemed absent in the tank. I wondered how much time I had left in it, but it didn’t matter. There was no reference point by which to measure it.
I had absolutely no fear, trepidation, or desire in the tank. My mind drifted and my eyes were open, but I could not discern between sleep and awake states, the line between them got blurry.
Just before I got out of the tank, I had a vision of the completion of my intention (that I had set before entering the tank). Only a moment before the music went on, I could see the project completed in my mind.
Once I got out of the tank, I noticed a stark difference between inside the tank and outside it. It took a moment to reconstruct the outside world again. It may have been wise to remind myself of the space outside the tank before getting out.
During the floatation, a song (“When Water Comes To Life”) by the band Cloud Cult came to mind. The song repeats the lines, “All you need to know/ is you are made of water…” The song also mentions, “And when they burn your body/ all that’s left is sand crystals/ two tiny handfuls/ all the rest is water, water, water.” Even now for some unknown reason, this brings tears to my eyes.
Once I entered the shower and started reassembling my persona and “normal” ways of existing, the song came to mind again. I thought to myself, I can see how this would be wonderful to do everyday! A sudden burst of tears came over me. I had no reason to cry that I could discern, but it felt relieving to cry for a bit.
I would use a tank again anytime the opportunity arises. I felt a deep and lasting peace that comes from the water of my own body finally having an experience of coming home. Thank you very much for this profound opportunity.

So, there you have it, my friends. If you ever get a chance, go float in a tank. If you want to start a tank business, or find out more, click on Samadhi Tank Company.
That day in the tank, I noticed a gentle death of the false self that believes itself separate from all and everything else around it. That phantom arises and gets banished again and again in my life. Out Demon Out!
Thanks for floating by,

Thanks for the comment, Jim.
Just reading about this refuels my desire to experience these tanks. The way I understand it, they especially play on the 1st circuit consciousness, which I hear echoed in your quote, “I had absolutely no fear, trepidation, or desire in the tank.”
Thanks for sharing your experience here G! I really appreciate it and it inspires me even more to seek out this experience.
